Next Leader?

Right, so lets assume for the purposes of this excersize only that Labour lose the general election. So who replaces Gordon?

Let's decide between:
Alastair Darling (the man with the funny eyebrows)
David Milliband (the one who went to Benton but denies it)
Jack Straw (the one who's been in the cabinet for years)
Peter Mandleson (The one that looks like Darth Vader according to Frankie Boyle)

It's interesting, since Straw has been in it for so long that he muat have lots of support, but had he made too many enemies? Milliband could be seen as a new and young face to the party who is in touch, but many think he is suspicious. Darling has the support of a lot in the party, so does that give him a chance, or does he lack public belief? Mandleson is very controversial, but didn't that work with Boris Johnson?

They all want it, but Mandelson looks like he wants it more than the rest of them.

There's just something about Mandleson which tells me it will be him. Thought he was more of a spin though, so I'm not sure how likely it is.

I think you've got a point there. I think he'll decide who gets the job, but not actually get it himself - he's got common sense. I forgot Alan Johnson on there, who might well get it, but I can just see Darling or Milliband getting it. Darling... there's a nasty thought... At least Milliband is competent.

Exactly. Or maybe its just that I think pigs could run a better government.
